Hi everyone.
Thanks to all for the enthusiastic recommendations as to choice of MP3 players. We have decided on xmms after trying most of them. Just one question: We are using KDE and have to 'execute command' each time we want to run xmms. Is there any way that we can get an icon on the desktop for xmms?
Thanks again.
Best wishes from Clara at FeF Studios, Spain.

There sure is. Right click the desktop, and click new then applicaton, and fill in the blanks. You can righ click other icons on your desktop and go to propeties to get an idea of how to fill in the blanks.
Alternatively just put the attachment in your $HOME/Desktop directory.
Thanks, that did it. In the 'Execute' section I just put 'xmms' without any path to it.
You guys are amazing. Strange though, doing a 'locate xmms' gives me a blank. Where does the binary live?

locate works quickly because of database (locatedb is the name of the file, found in /var/lib) which needs to be updated every now and then. By default (by that i mean, suse ships it like this:) cron updates locatedb every (i think) 24 hours. If you want to locate a binary try 'which <binary>' 'which' doesnt use a database, but is also quick because all it does it search in the directories in your path variable. type 'echo $PATH' to see them. ------------------------------------------------------- -- To unsubscribe send e-mail to suse-linux-e-unsubscribe@suse.com For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the FAQ at http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/
