Ruben, with libreoffice-writer-3.5.4.13-4.11.1 and setting the keys back to the standard ctrl-alt-<left/right>[0] beforehand, it does work. But not in a VMware VM. Have you checked in WPrefs (e.g. Apps -> Appearance -> Preferences Utility) that those key-combinations are still active? Versions? 0.92? Tried without any KDE/Gnome stuff running? They might grab those key-combinations ...

Anton, for you are obviously ignorant of wmaker, or intentionally bashing on Ruben for using "desktop" when "workspace" would have been more precise, whichever way, you are such a sad sucker! Ctrl-Alt-<left>/-<right> are the default combinations for switching workspaces in WindowMaker. And they work nicely. And, I just tested that, adjusting my keys to that default, it DOES work while reading e-mail with both Thunderbird and Seamonkey-Mail. Not that I use any of those. And you _CAN_ actually switch from WindowMaker to e.g. KDE while reading your mail. WMaker can start other windowmanagers/desktops just fine. E.g. So just on an update, I removed through yast all the kde4 and kde3 software that I could. the result was that it wrecked havoc on the default fonts are all my file menus, and within the applications of all my applications. Evidently, the font server for X has been relaced and I'm not sure how to even get it to work again. There was one nice application I wanted back, okular, which was very good for studying with my etextbooks. Installing it required the reinstallation of much of the kde libraries. So far though, there are no problems with the hotkeys. Can anyone know what is happening with these desktops at this point? You have all these applications and Desktop apps now trying to grap every core system that they turn everything into goop and they are no longer interoperatable or functional. Strange, all modern apps should use fontconfig and xft. Unless you are using some really old apps, in which case you will need to modify ~/.Xresources.

I seldom use Libreoffice. I just did a test, and I have no problems with switching to next/previous workspace in Window Maker with the keyboard. I did that. I was happy to see development of it to have been picked up. While it has essentially worked for a decade or better, it is nice to see functional updates. I'd liketo see wmsystemtray added to the distro amoung other things. Ruben

Hi Rubin:
So just on an update, I removed through yast all the kde4 and kde3 software that I could. the result was that it wrecked havoc on the default fonts are all my file menus, and within the applications of all my applications. Evidently, the font server for X has been relaced and I'm not sure how to even get it to work again.
Strange, all modern apps should use fontconfig and xft. Unless you are using some really old apps, in which case you will need to modify ~/.Xresources.
There was one nice application I wanted back, okular, which was very good for studying with my etextbooks. Installing it required the reinstallation of much of the kde libraries. So far though, there are no problems with the hotkeys.
I seldom use Libreoffice. I just did a test, and I have no problems with switching to next/previous workspace in Window Maker with the keyboard. However:
(1) I have rebinded all my keys in Window Maker. They all use the WIN key (Mod4- Super_L) as the modifier. This is to ensure that there is no hot keys conflict with any apps.
(2) I am using the latest developmental version of Window Maker. There have been a lot of bug fixes.
YMMV.
As an aside, you might want to move to the latest version of Window Maker. There are quite a few cool new features added:
