Well, in German there are these funny letters: an a,A,o,O or u,U with 2 dots above them and the sharp s. These are not in the 128 ASCII code signs, so -Pascii assumes these texts not to be texts and puts them through the gs - filter. Now, sometimes you just want to dump the data onto the printer (it's much faster, especially if you don't own a laser printer), for other people, the ghostscript does not work properly (yet).
