I'm using Suse 10 and I'm having problems with KBear. It crashes when I try to transfer a file.
KBear opens fine, connects to a remote FTP site fine, but when I try to transfer a file it crashes. I installed KBear two days ago and have not been able to get it to work. Could I have done something wrong in the install? I installed it from the Suse 10 CD's. Is anyone else having this problem?
Matt
Matt, just a few days ago I posted a similar problem with KBear and 9.3.
I was advised to try gFTP. I did. It works great.

Gil, My Suse 10 CDs (I do not have a DVD drive), do not contain gFTP. I checked some of the Suse 10 repositories suggested on the openSuse site and could not find it. Does anyone know where I can get a Suse 10 install of gFTP? ..or suggest another ftp program for Suse 10? Thanks, Matt

I have had good luck with vsftpd, which is on the 10.0 DVD and the 8.2 and 9.3 CDs (don't know about the 10.0 CDs). There is a /etc/vsftpd.conf file where I had to uncomment some lines in order to relax some default settings, write_enable=YES ftpd_banner="[whatever]" ls_recurse_enable=YES a /etc/xinetd.d/vsftpd file where I had to comment out a "disable" line, # disable = yes and I turned on xinetd using YaST.
