Hi Jalal,
I'm not sure what sort of resources you are thinking of needing. I found the process of setting up SuSE on a home network very straight forward.
Sure but I am a brain-damaged Windows techy :-)
Use CUPS for printing. Samba slots right in for domain controlling. Mail: I use an IMAP server, fetchmail, procmail, then I can access the mail with any client on the network. Postfix for SMTP Internet Proxy: Squid and Junkbuster.
Is that a good order to apply/activate them in? On the face of it it looks to be.
Raid: I don't know about.
OK :-)
All of the above I found easy to set up using the docs that came with the apps.
You're right, I should use the manuals etc. but some of them are so complicated ... quite daunting for someone trying to migrate across from MS to Linux.
In the end I removed the monitor from the server and uninstalled all the XF86 stuff. Now I just connect with VNC/Windowmaker and run things from my workstation.
Yes ... whilst I don't intend to remove the GUI I plan to stop boot at initlevel 3 and only use GUI if really necessary. Thanks mate, your comments were helpful ... I think the thing to do is work through a list of items one by one but do some research first. First off ... printing :-) James
