Hello everyone, Does anyone know if there is going to be an update version for 9.2, the way there is in the UK? Thanks. George ______________________________________________________________________ Post your free ad now! http://personals.yahoo.ca
One of the PR announcements made a reference to the price of the Pro
Update. I'm still looking for pre-order options for it. So far, only
the full boxed set for the Pro version is showing up.

Having used the 'update' package for several SuSE versions, I've come to the conclusion that 'update' refers to moving from the 'Personal' at a given version to the 'Professional' at that SAME version, and __not__ to an "update" from a previous SuSE version to a newer SuSE version. In other words, compared to the 'Professional' package, the 'update' package includes the CDs/DVDs and the Administration Guide from the 'Professional' package, but leaves out the User Guide. The 'update' package saves money over the full 'Professional' package, since SuSE thinks you already *have* a User Guide from when you purchased the 'Personal' package which you are now "updating" to the 'Pro' level. mikus

No. The SUSE Pro Update has the same DVDs, CDs and Admin Guide as the full Pro package. The SUSE Pro Update does not have the User Guide.

Correct.

Correct. Only the User Guide is missing and what, about $30US?
since SuSE thinks you already *have* a User Guide from when you purchased the 'Personal' package which you are now "updating" to the 'Pro' level.
Incorrect. SUSE is giving you a price break with the SUSE Pro Update because they assume you are an experienced SUSE or Linux user that really doesn't need the User Guide but does want to save some money.

Check the Novell web site. The update (pro without books) is available for preorder.
Looking at the Novell web site Oct 17 at 5 pm EDT (U.S.), the British and German pages offer preorders of both the 9.2 Professional and the 9.2 Update -- but the U.S. (i.e., worldwide) page offers __only__ the 9.2 Professional ($90) for preorder, and NOT the 9.2 Update ($60). mikus

see:http://www.novell.com/products/linuxprofessional/pricing.html Update costs $59.95. Or, you can wait for Amazon to knock 10% off that figure. dj tuchler

That is a price list, but you CAN'T order it. Fred -- "Running Windows on a Pentium is like getting a Porsche but only being able to drive it in reverse with the handbrake on."
Hi guys,
I just tried it 8:20 P.M. EST the price list is there
but clicking on North America gives only one option
the complete version with the books.
I hope that they add the "update" as well I like the
books and have those for 8.2 and 9.1 but for this one
I just need the CDs and 30 bucks less is good too as I
have to pay taxes too to get it in Canada.
Greetings.

I wonder how the books compare with 9.1?
Nothing has that dramatically changed since 9.1, so I guess there will little change there also. I bet you could successfully use some old SuSE books, maybe as early as 7.x. As forecast, Gnome is one step behind as usual, porbably due to the fact that SuSE and gnome release cycles seem to be too close for inclusion of the latest gnome. Regards Sid. -- Sid Boyce .... Hi Sid,
Isn't 2.8 the latest as that what it says on SuSE's
web site will be included with 9.2?
Cheers.

"Easy-to-use desktop interfaces: KDE 3.3 and GNOME 2.6" C&P from the SuSE site- 9.2 Pro, a new release of gnome usually preceeds a SuSE update by not very long and they seem more geared up to do KDE than gnome.
