Dear list, I have a random problem with the keyboard response. Once ina while it starts crashing and does not respond anymore. Then I have to logout and login (which means basically to restart the X-server, right?) andit works again. I cannot figure out to what it is related. It could be related to the following programs: Lyx, Xscreensaver, Xfree86. It is not related to acpi or a dirty keyboard. I am running SuSE 9.0 on a DELL Inspiron 8200. But it also happend under 8.2. It might be the X-serve which is not running stable. Any help apreciated. Ulrich
I have the same situation happening to me on my Dell Inspiron 2650 running SuSE 8.2. The local keyboard crashes, I can use the mouse to restart X and then the keyboard works again! I must also say that the crashing comes at odd times, I've been in KMail typing a message and it has locked in mid-sentence on my while I was typing. In my office, I have an external keyboard connected along with a USB mouse, the external keyboard has _never_ crashed. I haven't had enough ambition to sit down and play with XF86Config and change keyboard types or protocols yet, though. So, I guess I have no answer for you, just sympathy... :) --John Hiemenz --- Pine v4.5.3 --- SuSE Linux Pro v8.2 --- Registered Linux User #201684 Machine # 214067 Running Madly Into The Wind And Screaming On Thu, 23 Oct 2003, Ulrich Leopold wrote:
