Firefox and Mozilla are stuck after keyboard input

Hi all, I have a recurring problem. When I try to use the keyboard to input anything into firefox or mozilla, the programs freeze and need to be killed. This is only seen in regular user accounts. 'Root' doesn't have any problem using these programs. When I first updated to SuSE 9.0, I had the same problem, but along with a bunch of other minor problems, so I decided to do a fresh install and the problem went away. Yesterday I set up ip masquerading through yast and lo and behold, the problem reappeared. Now I REALLY don't think a fresh install is the way to go to solve this particular problem, but I have played with the permissions and the security settings in yast to no avail. So now I am appealing to the experts once again. What am I missing? I should say that the other box (win + firefox) doesn't have any problem and is quite happy working through my linux box. Any thoughts, suggestions??

I always keep my home partition as is, and just delete some of the config but never .mozilla ect. When I got this problem I deleted .mozilla, .firefox ect. But I think I also deleted some other stuff, I can't remember.
If it works fine for root, then the problem is definitely in your home directory. Does it happen for you under a different window manager too? Hope this helps. -- Kind regards Hans du Plooy Newington Consulting Services hansdp at newingtoncs dot co dot za

Well.... All the users have the same problem, except for root. Konqueror (spelling??) works just fine. The problem occurs in every wm I have installed (KDE,gnome, enlightenment, and ice)

Alright, that narrows it down a little more. Your users don't have permission to something outside their home directories that they need to have. What this would be I can't say. Open Mozilla from a konsole and see if it gives any useful output when it freezes. Also check for anything Mozilla related that might be lurking in /tmp or /var/tmp - maybe there are mozilla temp files of which the permissions got screwed -- Kind regards Hans du Plooy Newington Consulting Services hansdp at newingtoncs dot co dot za

Hi, Been looking at bugzilla and seems there are a couple of similar bug reports about keyboards freezing the browser but no mention of root's ability to work untroubled.
