[opensuse] nVidia +Asus+AMD Problem 10.2 x86_64 bit
Hi , i have following machine with specs: * Amd 3000+ 64 bit * Asus M2N-MX Mother Board with nVidia Chip set. * openSUSE 10.2 x86_64 OS i have installed the suse well ,but installtion never detected by Nvidia Chip set on board LAN. After installation i rebooted the machine and try to configure the LAN card via Yast2 but it failed to detect the card & given the choice of loading the module . i am not aware of exact module neither i found any module entry for Nvidia LAN card driver. then i had FC6 installed on same machine with different slice.. i checked the #vi /fc6/etc/modprobe.conf where i found an entry "alias eth0 forcedeth" i make the same entry in Suse "/etc/modprobe.conf.local" and rebooted the machine . Suse dmesg output has give me the following errors : Found Nvidia MCP61 ethernet driver reverse engineered (Rev 2.0 ) Consult the Hardware vendor MAC address invalid [ACPID] renaming eth0 to eth1 staring mandatory devices eth0__ #ifconfig eth0 192.168.0.1 up SIOFLAG not found eth0 no device found then i run #ifconfig eth1 192.168.0.1 up # It means eth1 works (why not eth0 ???????) then i rebooted the machine again after 2 hrs Suse dmesg has shown me this time same error as well eth0 and eth1 device not found. [ACPID] 1 rule loaded renaming eth1 to eth2 #ifconfig eth1 192.168.0.1 up no device found eth1 #ifconfig eth2 192.168.0.1 up # This time eth2 works neither eth0,eth1 ???????!!!!!!!!!! It means on every reboot it changes my network card configuration name and device entry . Hope i explain well Plz help what mistake i did and any modifications i need to carry out . Is it kind of BUG Now "forcedeth" driver is working at least but eth<number> increments every time . -- ======================================================= With Best Regards Mr.Shailesh Bhutada(CTO) Web:www.comptrixsys.com Email:kernel.2k5@gmail.com :shailesh_oss@redhat.com ========================================================= This Message is sent Via Qmail-smtpd@comptrixsys.com Server SuSe 10.1 Linux Using Opera's e-mail client or Mozilla ThunderBird Mail Client. ========================================================= -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
