All, kernel gurus, This article got my attention: 'Alarming' security bugs lay low in Linux's needrestart server utility for 10 years https://go.reg.cx/tdml/dfd67/6768a7ff/409363c0/4f7m Apparently the needsrestart server in the kernel can be exploited easily enough that the proof of concept isn't being released along with the announcement of the multiple CVE's. Primary culprits, python and ruby (something Rust can't fix this time) I don't know if this is in the default openSUSE kernel. Ubuntu is the lucky server distro in the article. How would you check to see if this is running in openSUSE? -- David C. Rankin, J.D.,P.E.
