I'm wondering if anyone on the list here is using an hp4 printer with the onboard printserver in it. I can not find the manual on this machine, it was bought before my time. I need to get an ip address on it so that I can set it up on the linux server, its one the last stumbling blocks I have before i can convert over to linux an scrap the old novell server. thanks an any info you can give. jack malone Network Administrator EAST TEXAS LIGHTHOUSE FOR THE BLIND dba HORIZON INDUSTRIES 903-595-3444 http://www.horizonind.com

I think you should be able to go to the config section from the panel and set the ip number. Also note that it should use port 9100 if it is a standard HP protocol. You can also telnet to the printer to do things once you get an IP address assigned. Have you checked the hp.com site for documentation? -- +----------------------------------------------------------------------------+ + Bruce S.
