[opensuse] openSUSE_10.3 vs openSUSE_Factory
If I want to install KDE4 on openSUSE 10.3 should I be using http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/KDE:/KDE4/openSUSE_10.3 or http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/KDE:/KDE4/openSUSE_Factory ? At the moment they seem to have exactly the same packages in them. What would normally be the difference? Factory is a highly experimental place, you should only go there if you want to be a tester, report bugs and help us ;) otherwise your best bet is to use 10.3 with KDE packages from the openSUSE buildservice. -- "The only thing that interferes with my learning is my education." - Albert Einstein Cristian Rodríguez R. Well, living on the bleeding edge does imply you'll bleed now and then :) I used to like that too some time ago, but nowadays it suffices to take part in developing that bleeding edge as part of my daytime job and enjoy a stable system for in leisure time :) Philipp -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Thanks for that. I'll stick with the openSUSE_10.3 one's then :-) -- Regards Scott Newton -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

dependencies. For example factory has switched to gcc-4.3 . So I expect that the KDE packages in factory were compiled with gcc-4.3 (instead of gcc-4.2 used for 10.3) and they depend on the libstdc++ from gcc-4.3. So use the openSUSE_10.3 repo unless you want to ask for trouble. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
