[opensuse] Realplayer not playing??
Listmates, Our local public radio station transmitter is down and I was trying to get the audio stream to play in realplayer on openSuSE 11.0, but nothing would play. I chose amarok and all is playing fine. The stream I wanted to listed to can be found here in both .pls and .m3u format: http://www.publicbroadcasting.net/rrr/ppr/index.shtml Is realplayer broken? Can anyone else get the .pls or .m3u streams to play in realplayer? (you get a bit of culture as well, it's classical until 3:00 pm CDT. or 2000 UTC (zulu)) -- David C. Rankin, J.D.,P.E. It's crashing RealPlayer on a Mac. It works on iTunes on a Mac. In the playlist file there seems to be an advertisement in the front of the program stream and this seems to crash RealPlayer. -- Tony Alfrey tonyalfrey@earthlink.net "I'd Rather Be Sailing" -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Ahha! Thanks Tony. I do very little media listening on the pc, so I didn't even know what culprits to look for. Think of the irony here... A "public" broadcast station (PBS - Governmentally supported) with problems in its broadcast stream due to "commercials" at the front. Oh, what a tangled web we weave... Randall, good to know it works in 11.1, but 11.0 is dead in the water. I guess it is something that should be bugged. If 11.1 handles the format w/commercials fine, then that tells me there is a problem with the same on 11.0. Thanks for your help Randall and Tony. -- David C. Rankin, J.D.,P.E. They both work fine for me on openSUSE 11.1 (x86) with RealPlayer 11.0.1.1056 (GOLD).

Yes, same here on SuSE 9.3. RealPlayer10 won't play the .pls I tried to upgrade RealPlayer10 to 11 but it wants libstdc++.so.6 and I don't want to break something by loading it up. Latest RealPlayer 11.0.1 for the Mac doesn't like it as I mentioned. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

The m3u stream plays just fine with Mplayer plugin, too. Nice sound, I'm gonna bookmark it Bob -- Bob Smits, bob@rsmits.ca "Don't worry about people stealing your ideas. Why don't you use VideoLan? It does support all formats with many interesting features. Besides, you can install it from VLC repository. D. David C. Rankin, J.D.,P.E. wrote:
