[SLE] Linux Technology Preview Boot Screen
(This message isn't about to become as OT as the subject suggests) Has anyone seen Caldera LTP's (Linux Technology Preview (Kernel 2.4)) boot screen? It's really pretty nice looking, it puts a "Motif" like list box on one side listing the status of the system loading process, and has Caldera's logo on the right. The list box scrolls (automatically) through the various process startup screens just like the normal startup messages, abet in a graphical interface. Any chance we might see something like this in SuSE 7.x? Here is an ASCII art diagram of what I'm talking about (the real thing has a "Motif"-like interface): +----------------------------------------+ |OpenLinux | +-------------+-------------+------------+ |Message |Status | | +-------------+-------------+ | |WWW server... ok | [Caldera | |Stating SMB. ok | Globe Logo]| |Starting GPM. wait | | |Starting KDE. ---- | | | | | | | | | | Caldera | +---------------------------+------------+ While it really doesn't add any functionality, I thought this nice graphical startup screen added more usefulness than a splash screen while looking very professional. -Tim ----------------------------------------------------------------- Timothy R.
