Good day, Just wondering how I can easily add a service to a different run level as we do not have chkconfig. Thanks! Matt

G'day to you too :-) ( or good night on my local time ;) I don't know what SuSE had in mind, but I just do: ln -s /sbin/init.d/servicename /sbin/init.d/rcx.d/S45servicename if I want to start a service ( the number is a sequence number, take a look into the rc?.d directories, they start in ascending order ) "S" is for start, "K" is for kill - -tosi - -- ______ /---------------------------------------\ \ | Þór Sigurðsson | Tor Sigurdsson | t | | Netmaður | Network Specialist | o | |-----------------------------------------| s | | tosi@rhi.hi.is | i | \---------------------------------------/_____/ -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.0.1e-SuSE (GNU/Linux) Comment: For info see http://www.gnupg.org iD8DBQE6fz786mRH+PEpr2YRAggqAJ9xGekFXCBjPyC7J8A0U+OkXsaanACgtPut XcfvVDGlszlYWryeqSJpVck= =XNX7 -----END PGP SIGNATURE-----

Thanks, Just did a search on google.net, looks like a common question. Be nice if there was a simple utility that could do it for you (yes I am very lazy). Matt On Tue, 6 Feb 2001, Tor Sigurdsson wrote:

There was, /sbin/rctab. It's going to be removed though in the future. -- -ckm

Hello, If you have the SuSE linux 7 handbook, pg 461-463 gives you some info on how they handle this. Cheers, Filip. Le Mardi 6 Fvrier 2001 00:37, Matthew a crit :

Wow, Thanks so much, will RTFM the manual when I get home! just wish there was a simple util for SuSE that mimics chkconfig. I will wait till I RTFM on that one :-) Many thanks, Matt On Tue, 6 Feb 2001, filip wrote:
