First place to look, I'd say, is that little cable that connects your CDROM drive to your sound card. If it's not there (or reversed), then you'll get no sound. If you happen also to be running Windows, I'd suggest seeing if you can play CDs under Windows. If not, it's a hardware problem; if so, it's a software problem. Paul Abrahams

The problem is this on several notebooks: you SHOULd be able to play cd and actually hear it :-) without having installed alsa stuff, right? if so, you cannot load kmixer to set volume up. is there some text based way outta this? -- *º¤., ¸¸,.¤º*¨¨¨*¤Oliver@home*º¤., ¸¸,.¤º*¨¨*¤
