need help with displaymanager weirdness
Hi guys, all of a sudden my displaymanager isn't starting properly anymore... Yesterday morning all was fine, since yesterday afternoon display- manager.service doesn't start properly after boot anymore. All I get is a black screen, and a mouse pointer. Then, I restart X with ctrl-alt-backspace, or login through ssh or from a text console and restart the display-manager.service, and all is well. I already checked - the xdm and sddm packages have not changed since some time in the first two weeks in APRIL. A bit more detail: I'm running 15.2 with the KDE/Plasma repositories from OBS active and prioritized so that they always override the stock repos. I'm using nis and autofs to get the user home directories. I used systemctl edit to make sure that display manager gets started only after the networks, nis, and autofs are all up & running. There is nothing suspicious in the journal, or in /var/log/Xorg.0.log... and like i said, once I restart the displaymanager all is fine. Anyone got any ideas? When you have that black screen, try hitting Esc. This may bring up a console-like display of what's going on, what's getting loaded, and possibly where it's hanging.
