Ulrich, I used xisp with 5.3, and because of quirks with my isp when I upgraded to 6.0 I was forced to find something else. I downloaded ezppp and it works like a charm. I could however never get kppp to work. It gave me weird errors and just plain wouldn't work. I run several versions of Unix connected to a SuSE linux box and ezppp works well, and it's as the name says EZ. :) Give it a try..or if you are using a version of pppd before 2.3 xisp should work very well for you. hi all, i'm still trying to connect my linux-box with the internet and having a problem with kppp. when i try to start the connection it always tells me: 'Sorry, the modem is not ready'. on the other hand, when i try 'query modem' from within the kppp configuration it first tells me 'modem ready' and then gives me the following output:

i can't understand, why it tells me 'modem ready' within the modem query-thing, detects my modem right (diamond supraexpress 56e) and gives me afterwards this 'sorry, the modem is not ready' message. and of course the modem IS ready (well, at least under windows it is). please help me, I'm trying this internet-connection-thing already since three or four weeks (at least).
