Hi all and a Happy New Year to you,
Are there any known problems in updating OpenOffice 1.0 to 1.1 on 8.2
Pro?
On the SuSE ftp site it only holds the file under the 9.0 banner!

You can get RPMs for 8.2 from here: http://packman.links2linux.org/?action=360 I've had no problems with them here. -- Homepage http://scott.exti.net XFce desktop environment http://www.xfce.org Goodies for the XFce desktop http://xfce-goodies.berlios.de GPG public key ID: 811B00AB

The 9.0 SuSE rpm is broken. In our opinion you must use the tarball (www.openoffice.org) or buy the faster version from Sun. Only takes a few minutes longer and costs 29 dollars or WHY. Cheers and happy new year from Steve.

Really?. To say the true, I have not worked too much with it after get it installed. I have SuSE 9.0 FTP version and it had some dependencies broken because java2 is not in the FTP version. I built an rpm to avoid these conflicts after download java2sdk.rpm from SunJava Site. You can see http://www.oxixares.com/rpms/SuSE_9.0/java2_ftpinstalls/README After install the java2_ftpinstalls rpm I installed OpenOffice from SuSE 9.0 without problems. Hmmm. I guess I better stop using it then (if it's broken). -- Ken Schneider unix user since 1989 linux user since 1994 SuSE user since 1998 (5.2)

Yeah, well ... it may explain why inserting a scanned image in 1200 dpi is slow in OpenOffice write. Maybe it'll be faster if I use the Sun version? :-) I know, however, that I'll get a lot more templates by using the Sun packaged version. It's much more "complete" package, but it hardly means that the stripped one is broken.

I just downloaded the three pertainant rpms from http://packman.links2linux.org/?action=360 and Did an rpm --upgrade .... Everything worked. Very nice package. And yes there is a export direct to pdf. (Even if there weren't you can set up cups to provide a pdf-printer so that any package has the pdf option). -- _____________________________________ John Andersen
