You need to know if ISP uses PPPOE. If that is the case you will need RoaringPenguin software. www.roaringpenguin.com Do you have DNS Server address as well ? You need those too. Regrads, Alex Kees Bergwerf wrote:

Do you have DNS Server address as well ? Not necessarily as rp-pppoe is able to get the peer DNS settings

If it is external version then install rp-pppoe.rpm from your CD and then as root run adsl-setup make sure you set START_ADSL="yes" in /etc/rc.config and of you go

Even though you have a static IP address you may still need to use DHCP to set it up. -- Regards Cliff
If your system is PPPTP, you may find the HOWTO at http://www.rhapsodyk.net/adsl/HOWTO/ helpful. This was written for people setting up adsl connection in France, but may well be of wider application. Best wishes -- Timothy Mason <tmason@club-internet.fr> http://perso.club-internet.fr/tmason/
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Hmmm, My findings with the Alcatel Speed Touch Home is that rp-pppoe does the job. All you have to do is install it from the CD or a S.u.S.E. Mirrorsite near you and run adsl-setup. The rest is described below. Only one question about it, is there any way to improve the speed of the external ADSL-modem through Linux?
