[SLE] cp -av /cdrom/.* copies /..
Greetings! I'm transferring my SuSE 6.3 CDs to my file server. Following a recent discussion on using NFS for installing SuSE, I'm using the following commands: cp -av /cdrom/* /pub/linux/suse/6.3/all cp -av /cdrom/.* /pub/linux/suse/6.3/all I'm experiencing problems with the last command to copy the "." files. Apparently, ".." is also being copied, and I see the rest of my /pub directory copying into my destination folder. How can I remove ".." from being copied? Is there a better command for what I'm trying to do? Thanks! Not necessarily better, but in Unix there's always 15 ways to skin a cat. I use the following: cd /cdrom tar -cf - , |(cd /pub/linux/suse/6.3/all;tar -xf -) Works for me... Stew Benedict On Fri, 27 Oct 2000, Christopher D. Reimer wrote:
