Hi, Just wondering if Suse's Yast program has the ability to setup IP masquerade? IE one real eth0 interface and one non routable eth0:1 (192.168.0.1/24 ip address attached to it) Can this be done, most people asking for linux assistance all want ip masquerading for the hot new cable modems. and I think that the ethernet setup under Yast is great, but then to have to hand edit the filter / firewall rules is not for the faint of heart.
Besides the start scripts, you will have to compile a kernel which has support for masquerading/firewall/ipforwarding etc, I don't know if the stock kernel has that done already. You should compile your own kernel anyway to remove support for hardware you don't have, keeps the kernel nice and tight. There's a howto for all this, I don't have it handy right now but email me if you can't find it. -- Lou A.
