[opensuse] opensuse 15.1

I was informed that opensuse Leap 15.1 did not exist at the current time. But on "openSUSE download server" I fine the directory: http://download.opensuse.org/distribution/leap/15.1/repo/oss/x86_64/ which is populated. Any ideas on why we have a directory full of RPMs for Leap 15.1 it it does not exist? For it ever to exist, development has to start somewhere, sometime. That link's existence makes no implication there is a 15.1 ready for ordinary use by ordinary users. OTOH, without it, ordinary people cannot test its alphas and betas and report any bugs they find that QA has missed. -- "Wisdom is supreme; therefore get wisdom. Whatever else you get, get wisdom." This is likely correct, Leap 15.1 development has already started on a limited scale, it already has a staging dashboard with some stuff being tested under openQA for atleast the last few releases we haven't mass migrated everything from a "pre-release" repo to a release one on release day. If you install the distro pre release you don't need to change repo's and zypper dup again on the release day. For what its worth whats in that repo is probably pretty stable being leap 15.0 + a few new additions but I wouldn't be using it yet. -- Simon Lees (Simotek) http://simotek.net Emergency Update Team keybase.io/simotek SUSE Linux Adelaide Australia, UTC+10:30 GPG Fingerprint: 5B87 DB9D 88DC F606 E489 CEC5 0922 C246 02F0 014B

Thanks. I suspected as much but I mentioned 15.1 previously and was told I was just in error. Thanks, Don -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

I thought current release was openSUSE Leap 15.1, because starting with 12 series they changed version numbering to start with .1 instead of previous .0 starting version numbers. So it was changed back, why? Istvan -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

Because it follows SLE versioning. -- Cheers / Saludos, Carlos E. R. (from 42.3 x86_64 "Malachite" at Telcontar)
