Hi Pieter, Are you *certain* there is no mention of Java anywhere in Oracle's 10g documentation? This is not the case with 9i, which is the latest version documentation I have on hand. Here's an excerpt from a96167, "Pre-Installation Requirements":
======= JRE Patches Oracle9i installs one of the versions of the Java Runtime Environment (JRE) listed in the following table, depending on your platform: Platform JRE Version -------- ----------- AIX JRE 1.1.8-build 20020313 HP JRE 1.1.8.06 Linux Blackdown JRE 1.1.8 v3 Solaris 32-bit JRE 1.1.8_12 Solaris 64-bit JRE 1.1.8_15 Tru64 JRE 1.1.8-10 ========
Please confirm exactly what Oracle 10g's installer is doing, OK? I find it difficult to believe they haven't certified (and documented) a specific JRE version for their installer to run under and I don't want to waste my time or your's running down dead-ends like this. regards, - Carl PS: Please don't top-post.
