I've had it happen a number of times. You'll need to restart the evolution-data-server (or reboot). Most likely then you'll have three copies of your appointment.

Thanks for the tip. But it didn't work that way for me. Evolution's just been too crash-prone. I'm going to give Korganizer a try for awhile.
KOrganizer rox. Just make sure you start the alarm daemon at boot so you get the alarms. With KOrganizer running, you should get a little calendar-like thingy (sorry for the bad description) in the system tray. Right-click on it and select Alarms Enabled and Start Alarm Daemon at Logon.
