SUSE includes Rekall with 9.1 Pro. I had my hopes up that it was going to be a good solid database - NADA. Way too buggy yet. Fred -- "The only secure Microsoft software is what's still shrink-wrapped in their warehouse..." (Forno)

What on earth made you think it was going to be a database?
Marketing. :) I messed with it sometime ago and it needed a lot of help then. 'Still does. Fred -- "The only secure Microsoft software is what's still shrink-wrapped in their warehouse..." (Forno)

Odd - I've been using Rekall for over a year and find it to be excellent. Which back end are you using with it? Of course, it depends what you expect, but Rekall is by far the best database front end I've found on linux - excellent form and report construction tools, even if it's not as pretty as FileMaker. There are still some issues with it, I agree, but I've had no stability or data-integrity problems at all. It's just a few features that still need tweaking, and Mike is very ready to listen :) John -- John Pettigrew Headstrong Games john@headstrong-games.co.uk Fun : Strategy : Price http://www.headstrong-games.co.uk/ Board games that won't break the bank Valley of the Kings: ransack an ancient Egyptian tomb but beware of mummies!

GREAT! Then let him know it SHOULD be possible to resize a field once a database is built. Fred -- "The only secure Microsoft software is what's still shrink-wrapped in their warehouse..." (Forno)

It *is* possible - I just did it here (using 2.2 beta 2, which is admittedly slightly later than what SUSE supply, but I'm pretty sure it's always worked here). Hmm. I'd suggest that you pop over to the Rekall list and report the bug there. The address is rekall (at) rekallrevealed.org. Or visit the website http://www.rekallrevealed.org/ (although it's not quite up to snuff ATM - the previous Php-Nuke-based site got hacked so they've dropped the old site and some stuff is still MIA!). 'Can't....keeps timing out on the "subscribe." Is there a user manual for the KDE version - can't find one. Fred -- "The only secure Microsoft software is what's still shrink-wrapped in their warehouse..." (Forno)

There should be docs somewhere (although they're lagging behind ATM AIUI) but I don't know where SUSE have put them - they should be under the Help menu on a normal build ('Rekall handbook' is the first item on the Help menu here). As for the mailing list, I can only suggest trying again later :( John -- John Pettigrew Headstrong Games john@headstrong-games.co.uk Fun : Strategy : Price http://www.headstrong-games.co.uk/ Board games that won't break the bank Valley of the Kings: ransack an ancient Egyptian tomb but beware of mummies!
