[opensuse] Desktop effects stopped working since nvidia driver upgrade

I am running KDE 4.14.3 on openSUSE 13.2. My graphics card is nVidia GeForce 9600 GT driving twin monitors.
Yesterday I upgraded the nvidia graphics drivers from 340.58 to 340.65, following which the KDE Desktop Effects stopped working. I have 8 desktops, which used to rotate beautifully around the desktop cube :-(
sudo zypper lr [...] 3 | download.nvidia.com-opensuse|nVidia Graphics Drivers | Yes | Yes [...]
I should get the drivers from the download.nvidia.com-opensuse repository, but following the upgrade, YaST tells me that the 340.65 drivers that are installed came from build.suse.de/home:michal-m
Two questions:
How did YaST decide to switch to a repository that I am not subscribed to?
nVidia only hosts packages; drivers are built by SUSE. Publisher in RPM refers to repository where packages are built, not to download location.
How do I revert to the 340.58 drivers (preferably from the nvidia repository)?
I'm afraid the only way is to find someone still having these packages or contact michal-m directly ... in any case you should open bug report so it can be tracked and fixed. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

Forgive my ignorance, but it's been a long while since I reported a bug and things seem to have changed... https://bugzilla.novell.com/ won't accept my old login details, and redirects me to an Attachmate page. The help document there suggests I use https://www.bugzilla.opensuse.org, but this gives a 'Server not found' message. What is the correct address to report opensuse bugs, please? Actually that is correct - I'm authenticated via this server as well.
The help document there suggests I use https://www.bugzilla.opensuse.org, but this gives a 'Server not found' message.

Address is https://bugzilla.opensuse.org/ but it should use the same credentials as bugzilla.novell.com. They are two different frontends to the same underlying database (mostly it simply affects visual skins and default product selection). -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

OK, found it and was able to login after resetting my password. Not a very user friendly site! I was able to view a list of recent bugs, none of which matched my problem. I was totally unable to find out where or how to report a new bug. They talk of 'New cases' and 'New Runs', but it's not clear what these terms mean. Clicking on either ended up in the same place, where I was asked to enter a 'Plan Id'. As they say on most their pages: "Why make things difficult, when it is possible to make them cryptic and totally illogical, with just a little bit more effort? - Attributed to Mads Martin" I will RTFM and report back if I manage to create a bug report. My bug report was accepted and solved within the hour. Thank you, Stefan Dirsch. I was asked to run nvidia-bug-report.sh and submit the resulting report. I then had to remove the contents of /usr/lib64/xorg/modules/updates directory completely. I wonder where you got this directory from in the first place. I have no idea. Maybe it appeared following the upgrade from 340.58 to 340.65?

I had the same issues trying to create a new bug report, and then found out on this ML that I'm not alone. There are some text links in the middle of that page for creating a new bug. You have to click on one of them. It certainly wasn't evident to me. There will now ensue a discussion/argument about whether that page constitutes good or bad design. :) Peter -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org
