I am brand new to linux with no prior knowledge of anything other than windoze. I recently made the switch to suse 8.1 professional by a friends recommendation. My cd drives are going insane. I always get this message that dev/hdc has an error on startup(at 16:00?). With a lot of help I fixed the symbolic links so that the cdrecorder would actually point to the correct drive. I have a plextor cd writer that is the secondary master(alone) and a 56x cdrom on the primary slave(HD is master) These drives are both IDE. I know that somehow you are supposed to emulate a SCSI drive, but how,? and does anybody know how to fix these drives so I can use them without errors? I would greatly appreciate any help on this subject--in extremely dense lame mans terms!! -Josh- _________________________________________________________________ The new MSN 8: advanced junk mail protection and 2 months FREE* http://join.msn.com/?page=features/junkmail

If you do a keyword search for "atapi cdr" you'll get very step by step instructions on how to do this. It's pretty simple with the intructions but far to long for me to type in this email. Give that shot and if you have any issues then post another message. We'll help you get it working. :) Regards and Welcome. :) -- Ben Rosenberg ---===---===---===--- mailto:ben@whack.org Tell me what you believe.. I'll tell you what you should see.
