I've installed 9.1 yesterday and am trying to get it setup with the same ability as my 8.2 version. Currently I have a problem with no sound when running kdetv. I've check the sound card under yast2 and can test for sound. Also, other applications show sound. I really need ideas at what to look for which will affect my problem. I've tried the configure-kdetv setting sound to ALSA Mixer Plugin using Line as the mixer element. The sound card is an Ensoniq Audio PCI. I checked all the settings I can think of under SuSE 8.2 (where I've never had problems with sound). This is really confusing. Can anyone help?
BTW, thanks to those who helped me get the video working after I installed the nvidia drivers.
I am having a similar problem which I never had until KDE took over my new machine. I used fvwm2 and had NO tv sound problems. If you are running KDE I bet it is causing you not to have sound unless KDE says to do it.
Donn, Yes, I'm trying to run SuSE 9.2 with KDE and kdetv. How is KDE controlling the sound? What switchs do I need to check under the control-center? Thanks -- SuSE Linux 8.2 (i586) ---- 2.4.20-4GB-athlon --- Mon 05/31/04 12:00 12:00pm up 15:09, 3 users, load average: 0.64, 0.28, 0.10

Try opening KAMix. A link should appear in the K menu under Multimedia->Volume Control. Check to see that nothing is muted. -- JAY VOLLMER JVOLLMER@CONSOLIDATEDLINT.COM TEXT REFS DOUBLEPLUSUNGOOD SELFTHINK VERGING CRIMETHINK IGNORE FULLWISE
There has been general screwiness with sound and the new KDE. Perhaps this will help: http://dot.kde.org/1070894366/1071099818/. It solved my sound problems
