I compiled it for my system yesterday... a couple of times. I had to add in the gtk2-devel package to get it to compile. Basically, download the source, and do a ./configure. It will tell you what you're missing. Add in the missing devel packages. Try again. Rinse and repeat until ./configure completes without errors or warnings. Then do a make. Then as root do a make install or a checkinstall if you want to make an RPM and install it using RPM (I'd recommend the checkinstall route). It works fine... except in my case anyway, it will not log into my MSN or GTalk accounts. It keeps complaining about SSL problems - this is despite the fact I have OpenSSL and TLS installed. There are good things (improvements in the interface) and not-so-good things about the Beta2 version (the Buddy list now takes up a LOT more screen space). IMHO, it'll be worth waiting for the full version 2 if Gaim 1.5 is working for you right now. C

I've not tried with Gaim 2 but I remember that with earlier versions, in order to get an MSN connection I had to compile with the Mozilla NSPR and NSS devel. packages. Have you tried using them? You may get better mileage. Eddie

That worked. No more complaints about SSL not being installed :-) I still think the new buddy list... is too big - take up way too much screen space. Haven't discovered how to hide some of the new "features". Time to go on the hunt. :-) C.

The dev team has already said that's being corrected. Mike- -- Mornings: Evolution in action.
