[SuSE Linux] Bashing Revisited
Okay. You guys are killin' me! (I originally posted the "stop bashing Microsoft" post.) When you give an example of how Microsoft fails to perform in a given situation, AND give an example how Linux solves the problem, that is not bashing!!! Bashing is unmitigated abuse. It's the act of bad mouthing something without explaining. Granted, it's FUN! That's what I meant... So, SO is a memory hog? Is Applix less so? I've heard Applix is less polished, but more stable and efficient. It gets the job done. Also, I hope SuSE 6.0 will benefit from RH's nightmare with glibc. Have a good day! ;-))

Well, I've cooled down a bit. In my example, sendmail and fetchmail never let my down, they simply didn't work until proper configured. Again, there were other problems around, linux was solveable. For my M$ problem, as I heared today, I should have installed the IE4.1SP1 package, that includes outlook express, a lean mail client. this should be easier to configure that outlook or exchange. they are unlogical, hidden and confused to set up. My exchange client at work sends a hack of idiotic data behind every message. There is no known way to stop this. consequently I cannot access this list from work, I would be *fryed* by the list members. After refusing to do anything with M$ (for obvious reasons) three years ago, and still sticking to 3.11 at work, (just changing to NT) I am not up to date with M$. Win 3.11 spoiled many days. I called it a good day, when there was a protection fault. Later, I changed the messages for the blue screens, like: your system is in a perfect working order. it is hanging. say goodby to your data. pull the plug.
Bashing is unmitigated abuse. It's the act of bad mouthing something without explaining. Granted, it's FUN!
It realy is. I have people around that *love* and *praise* M$ and their buisyness strategies. For fun, I hold against with *force*.
That's what I meant...

Yes it does. The older version, (Spreadshead) reminded me -functionally- to Excel 3.0, particulary on the search (database) functions. In the end, I dropped it for SO4.0. But: Applix Files can be edited with vi or whatever you choose, it's text!
Also, I hope SuSE 6.0 will benefit from RH's nightmare with glibc.
Yes, and I hope it won't turn into a nightmare. There are still more to come: egcs compiler and the 2.2.x kernels, as soon as these are officially released. (Any rough dates for that??)
Have a good day! Thanks. Had a better day today. ;-)
