[opensuse] capturing streaming flash audio in openSUSE 12.2
Hello: I would like to record streaming flash audio as wav files onto my hard disk. The stream is at: http://www.hrt.hr/streamf/PROGRAM2 How can I do it? (( I found this page: http://en.opensuse.org/User:Gnyers/RecordFlashAudioOutput But at point 2. I get nothing: ~> pactl load-module module-null-sink sink_name=FlashPlugin 23 ~> pacmd list-sink-inputs | egrep 'index:|sink:|application.process.binary' ~> )) Thanks, Istvan -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org
in firefox you can install an extention called Download Helper that
will download a flash based video/audio file.
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/video-downloadhelper/
It also supports converting as well.

Unfortunately video download helper does not work with live audio streams, at least not with this stream. I have the latest video download helper 4.9.21. I thought that if the sound is sent out through the soundcard there should some method to capture and record that sound from the soundcard. (I have no mike) jdd -- http://www.dodin.org -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

Pulseaudio can be configured to do this - you need the pavucontrol package installed to route the audio to your recording program. Dx
Thanks,

do you have some explanation? I have pavucontrol and do not see any way I can make audacity record something, but it's very bad, and looks more like intermodulation than routing thanks jdd -- http://www.dodin.org -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

well... I could make it, manipulating the pavucontrol config make audacity record (stalls), and then start the radio, audacity starts recording thanks jdd -- http://www.dodin.org -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

Start audacity recording, then in pavucontrol's "Recording" tab you can set the capture source for audacity to "monitor..." with the button/drop-down control above the "volume" sliders. You'll probably want to set "flat-volumes = no" in /etc/pulse/daemon.conf to prevent strange interactions between the various volume controls. Audacity should now record exactly what is sent to the speakers...

Glad you got there in the end - I do this sort of thing quite often so it's quite possible I've changed other settings from their default and forgotten about it... Dx
