I imagine that upgrading to a much newer kernel does not suffice. You would also have to upgrade the filesystem itself, ie, format it, to take full advantage of developments... just a wild guess.
The on-disk format has been stable for quite a while, maybe 18 months or more. So kernel upgrades make a huge difference. But the opensuse kernel dev team does backports of the major fixes found in new kernels and puts them into the stable kernels for opensuse 13.2 (not sure about 13.1). But not every possible bug fix and feature enhancement is so easily back ported so not everything makes it. So there's still many cases where a kernel upgrade will fix a problem. For instance, from today's 4.2 kernel git pull for Btrfs: 38 files changed, 1697 insertions(+), 1711 deletions(-) Development is still extremely active. -- Chris Murphy -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

Thanks Chris - upgrading to kernel 4.1 and btrfs-progs v4.1+20150622 fixed all of my issues with balance. -- --Moby They that can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liber -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org
