After finishing an 11.0 KDE4 Installation - when I start the PC the first Splash Screen is the Usual Opensuse.... and Failsafe.... When I select opensuse.....instead of a green splash screen I see all the loading instructions that you would normally see if you press ESC from the Start-up Splash Screen. Also when I shut down there is also no Splash screen just the text halt modules and settings How do I re-instate both Splash Screens - Its probably an option on the boot loader when I select normal opensuse..... startup??????? So have you used openSUSE before, and if so, has the splash screen
appeared before?
If so, it sounds as if something went wrong with your most recent
installation to cause the system to not correctly use your graphics
chipset.

splash=1 at the boot screen should overide any splash=0 in your boot config. Use yast2 bootloader to check your configuration and yast2 runlevel to check the splash early and splash services are started and running. Check the packages bootsplash, bootsplash-branding-openSUSE and gfxboot-branding-openSUSE exist. This makes perfect sense now as I did have to alter the boot loader so I could boot from my first SATA drive rather than my Slave IDE Thanks you great help.. Scott P.S Please excuse any double posting that has occurred recently, my ISP had a major security issue over the weekend and re-sent a lot of emails Dave Plater wrote:

Your "?" key seems to hang. https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=292013 might give you some hints what you have to do. Sven -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
Try, #chkconfig --add splash
