[opensuse] Network on suse 10.2
Hi those that have to common decencey to communicate with me the rest can go ********************************** In Suse 10.2 i need the network to behave like it used to in 9.2 ie be fully active in runlevel 3 so that before any GUI kicks in networking is fully up and running . if-up does not do this at all it is still much too late in bringing networking fully up . 10.2 is great but it also needs a few bits from 9.2 the networking was far better in 9.2 the behaviour was better .. it was also a lot easier to make it work the way YOU want it to not the way IT wants you to work as it does right now (the M$ Corp way) Pete .. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Use "traditional method with ifup" instead of network manager. joe -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

I have it set up like that now but the network is way too late comming up KDE is up and running B4 i get any for of connectivity and on the laptop it is even worse (i do noy use the wireless card broardcomm PITA) it seems like networking is bieng started a lot later , Spose i will have to compile a kernel with the network card driver built in not a module modules are all very well but have there limits and things that are constants should have the choice of bieng built in much quicker .. Go to Yast, Network Devices, Network Card, edit for your network card, General tab, and change Device Activation to "At Boot Time". It will start just like you expect. No need to rebuild your kernel. -- Joe Morris Registered Linux user 231871 running openSUSE 10.2 x86_64 -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
