Installing 7.1 on Dell PowerEdge 1550 - Disk problems
I thought I had SuSE 7.1 installed on my new Dell PowerEdge 1550, but now I'm having problems. Every time I boot up, I get a message that fsck failed and to run it manually. I've tried to, but there's thousands of errors (I just hold the Enter button down to get "yes" to fix it). Sometimes, this seems to work fine, and others, it gives me a segmentation fault. Either way, when I boot it up again, I get the same error. Dell only certifies this server with RedHat 7.0. When I do the Dell setup, it creates a file called fixcm.pl on a floppy. It seems the job of this program is to put the drivers in the proper places in /etc/modules.conf. It wants to make "alias eth0 eepro100" and "alias scsi_hostadapter aacraid". When the systems boots, it recognizes the SCSI as "megaraid". I tried both "aacraid" and "megaraid", but got the same result both times. Any ideas? suggestions? Please help, so I don't have to install RH on this box. -Kevin Zembower ----- E.
