I need to add a window manager that I compiled to KDM. I can't find the file where the details about the window managers are listed. Any help is appreciated! Misty

Not sure if I understand your question completely. There is a file called wmlist that lists all windowmanagers: slartibartfast:~> which wmlist /usr/X11R6/bin/wmlist slartibartfast:~> You can edit that file and add another entry. Is that what you mean? Ken

wmlist is for startx, not for kdm
Of course I can add another entry to wmlist, but that doesn't tell it how to start the window manager. It just adds it to the list. I am confident that X can't read my mind to know what executable to use for that window manager. :) On Saturday 24 July 2004 09:02, Anders Johansson wrote:

Actually wmlist is a script. If you add an entry to the WMs= section, it should be the name of the binary for the windowmanager. The script does a "type -p" later in the script to confirm that it does exist. If it doesn't, it won't show up in wmlist. Of course all of this is moot since as Anders pointed out, that's for startx and not KDM. Sorry for misunderstanding your question. ;) Cheers, Ken

Look in /opt/kde3/share/apps/kdm/sessions one script per windowmanager. Copy one of them and edit it so Exec and TryExec and Name fits your new window manager, then you should see it
