Subject: SUSE 6.4 install on Microstar NetPC 6214
Got a hold of a NetPC 6214 from MSI, it's based on the i810E
chipset. I use the internal graphics adapter. There's a PIII
700/Celeron CPU installed and 256 MB of memory. One of the
available PCI slots is occupied by an iNTEL EtherExpress/100.
Things appeared to work fine during installation, both the
internal and "external" LAN adapters were correctly identified,
modules loaded, etc.
When I got to the network configuration part, however, the
system started locking up as soon as Linux begun talking to
eth0 (internal LAN). If I remove the adapter (via CMOS or
a hardware jumper) and only use the EE/100, things work fine.
But I need two adapters for this machine. The internal LAN
adapter is built on the iNTEL 82559.
I really don't want to do the whole thing over (again), so
any suggestions are certainly appreciated..
