ordering 10.1 is not going to be easy, apparently

Got my copy of Linux (PRO) magazine.. the one where PRO is 90degrees from the rest of the type.. found an advert on page 35 which says to go to www.novell.com/suselinux to order my copy of 10.1 .. that link takes you to a page about 10.0 and no matter what I try, including searching I can't seem to get to the correct page.. Any brave soul care to enlighten me, and others on this. Apr! was nearly a month ago now.. -- j "When You Earnestly Believe You Can Compensate For A Lack Of Skill By Doubling Your Efforts, There's No End To What You Can't Do."

Hah! Since Novel showed up I have never been able to find my way around the SUSE websites. I expected some web-savy and clarity from them, but even at this late date their web pages confuse and obfuscate! Let us know if you ever do find the page to place an order. PeterB

Rephrase your search using synonyms of your search terms. 3. Try our Advanced Search for more search options. 4. Consult our Search Help section for additional search details. That really is sad.. However the article seemed to think there has been some last minute dithering about.. as they try to make the kernal folks happy by NOT sending kernals that are precompiled w/ closed source drivers.. but I thought that was the sort of stuff that let us have the joys of online updates for Nvidia drivers.. <sigh> I poked around Amazon some. w/ no luck .. next I probably will tackle google.. For a googleplex of pages w/ less information than I have now.. You can always buy from Amazon.com. In the past they've made it available for pre-order as soon as SuSE / Novell announced it and have had pretty good prices, too. Randall Schulz

US Amazon doesn't have it (yet) but German Amazon (www.amazon.de) does. It offers both the English and German versions at E 59,95 (thats $75 roughly). You have to brush up your German though: Noch nicht lieferbar, jetzt vorbestellen : Not yet available, preorder now Auf meinem Wunschzettel : On my wishlist And not to be sniffed at: Versandkostenfrei: No freight charges. Don't know if that also holds for overseas shipments though. Regards, -- Jos van Kan registered Linux user #152704

Regards, If one was to order it directly from Novell (US) then the URL for this I think is
http://shop.novell.com/dr/sat5/ec_MAIN.Entry16?SP=10024&PN=29&xid=27477&V1=1... Yep, it is this long :-( - I've just been there but v10.1 is not listed there yet. Cheers. -- I was very heavily into pornography. Then my pornograph broke.

After I purchase SuSE Linux from 7.1 to 9.3 version, until today I am waiting an answer from Novell for why they refuse to sell version 10 to me. Thadeu

Did they actually refuse? Are they out of stock? If out of stock, I can well imagine they don't want to make more copies, when 10.1 will be out soon.

I trying to purchase just after SuSE 10 was launched, and they had argued that problem is that the tax to import in Brazil is large (???), but this is my problem. They send my e-mail to Novell representation here in Brazil that contact me, but never not answer my questions about it nor give a solution to sell SuSE 10.

Thadeu Your posting is a bit vague. Do you mean that they actually refuse to sell you a copy or is it that when you go to fill in the details for the purchase on their shop (ie the URL above) your order keeps being rejected with an error message?

I was put onto it by some mates on a fishing list. The URLs we swap can often be very long if they are buried deep in some obscure website. Especially if it is to do with cane rods or centrepin reels :-) Glad to be of some help :-) -- ============================================== I am only human, please forgive me if I make a mistake it is not deliberate. ============================================== PLEASE DON'T drink and drive it's not clever, it's just stupid.
