Till SuSE-8.2 I used Ecasound "Multitrack audio processing tools". Ideal to convert from any format to another and to capture an audio signal simultaneously as .wac or .cdr and .mp3 or .ogg files. With SuSE-10.1, Ecasound disappeared. No more .rpm package! Very difficult to compile manually the program because of dependencies problems, I suppose. Does anyone know where to find an rpm package of ecasound for SuSE-10.1-x86_64? Or another program that works, not Audacity that crashes irreversibly (icon "null" and go to hell). Of course there is Sox, oggenc, lame but ecasound was so easy to use. I can of course return to Debian Sarge which is still aware that ecasound exists. -- Alain Barthélemy cassandre@bartydeux.be http://www.bartydeux.be Linux User #315631

Name: ecasound
Version: 2.4.4-0.oc2pus.1@i586
Priority: 0
Group: Productivity/Multimedia/Sound/Editors and Convertors
Installed Size: 3.0MB
Reference URLs:

Channels: oc2pus
Summary: Multitrack audio processing tool
Description:
Ecasound is a software package designed for multitrack audio
processing. It can be used for simple tasks like audio playback,
recording and format conversions, as well as for multitrack effect
processing, mixing, recording and signal recycling. Ecasound supports
a wide range of audio inputs, outputs and effect algorithms. Several
open-source audio packages, like for instance ALSA, OSS, mpg123, lame,
libaudiofile and MikMod, are directly supported. One of the advantages
of ecasound's chain-based design is that effects can easily be
combined both in series and in parallel. Oscillators and MIDI-CCs can
be used for controlling effect parameters. Included user-interfaces
are ecasound - a versatile console mode interface, qtecasound - a
Qt-based X-interface and various command-line utils suitable for batch
processing.

Thanks but no ecasound on this FTP page. Fortunately I finally managed to install ecasound on Debian Sarge. Thus I have a dual boot: Debian Sarge for audio capture and SuSE-10.1 for video capture (MPlayer) but I would prefer to stay in SuSE-10.1. Audacity is completely broken in SuSE-10.1 (not in Debian Sarge). -- Alain Barthélemy cassandre@bartydeux.be http://www.bartydeux.be Linux User #315631

Hi Patrick. I confirm: no ecasound rpm in ftp://ftp.gwdg.de/linux/misc/suser-oc2pus/10.1/RPMS Stupid question again: where is the package if it exists? Fortunately I can dual-boot with Debian Sarge: the Ecasound apt-package is still available and the apt-package of Audacity is better working. I am a litle deceived of SuSE. Even if OpenSuSE-10.1 is working fine, there were more available packages with older SuSE versions. -- Alain Barthélemy cassandre@bartydeux.be http://www.bartydeux.be Linux User #315631

Looks like the mirror ftp.gwdg.de has problems with the Packman packages. You can download the package from here. http://packman.links2linux.org/?action=988 Also check out the other mirrors for Packman ftp://packman.links2linux.de/pub/packman/MIRRORS -- Regards, Graham Smith

SRC is capable of arbitrary and time varying conversions; from downsampling by a factor of 12 to upsampling by the same factor.
