Couple of problems I hope I can get a solution for...
I'll try to explain as best as I can... (BTW I'm new to SuSE, trying to get away from RedHat) 1. Can't play DVDs on my newly installed SuSE box (using SuSE 8.2 Pro). with Xine. I downloaded the libdvdcss from about 4 different site all with the same results as soon as I select DVD Xine crashes and burns. I even went as far as downloading Xine from packman.links2linux.org un-installing the default xine and re-installing the newly downloaded. 2. Problem I try to install Nessus on this box and found out that gtk is not fully distributed on the CDs (can anyone tell me where I can get gtk-config for the version of gtk that ships with 8.2) TIA for any help! -- +------------------------------------------ | José J. Had the same problem here. I'm sure there's a host of legal reasons why this doesn't work "out-of-the-box" too. I had to uninstall the SuSE xine, download the latest version from: http://xinehq.de/index.php/releases compile and install and voila! Works like a charm.
2. Problem I try to install Nessus on this box and found out that gtk is not fully distributed on the CDs (can anyone tell me where I can get gtk-config for the version of gtk that ships with 8.2)
Could this be part of gtk-devel? Both packages are installed here and I have gtk-config..
TIA for any help!
Hope any of that helps! Ken

The version that is install on your system is GTK2- it doesn't use gtk-config. You will need to install the gtk 1.2 and devel packages to compile Nessus. Did you download and install *all* the other libs and whatever from PackMan's site? With Xine, you'll need an awful lot of them, but for each one he shows you what else is or may be needed. Once you have them *all*, the easiest way to get them installed (so that you don't get the 'dependency errors), is to place all the .rpm's in one folder somewhere (make a new one in your /home directory), then as root in a konsole, navigate to the folder with all those rpm's and do 'rpm -ivh *.rpm', and 99% of the time the installer will be able to sort through everything to check and see what it needs etc... Here's a list of all the rpm's *I* have for my Xine on my 8.2 box: divx4linux-20030428-0.pm.0.i386.rpm ffmpeg-0.4.6-2.pm.1.i386.rpm imlib2-1.0.6-2.pm.0.i386.rpm imlib2-devel-1.0.6-2.pm.0.i386.rpm lame-3.92-1.i686.rpm libcddb-0.9.4-0.pm.1.i386.rpm libcddb-devel-0.9.4-0.pm.1.i386.rpm libcdio-0.61-0.pm.0.i386.rpm libcdio-devel-0.61-0.pm.0.i386.rpm libdvdcss2-1.2.6-0.pm.0.i386.rpm libdvdcss2-devel-1.2.6-0.pm.0.i386.rpm libffmpeg0-0.4.6-2.pm.1.i386.rpm libffmpeg0-devel-0.4.6-2.pm.1.i386.rpm libogg-1.0cvs20030622-0.pm.0.i386.rpm libogg-devel-1.0cvs20030622-0.pm.0.i386.rpm libtheora-0.0cvs20030622-0.pm.0.i386.rpm libtheora-devel-0.0cvs20030622-0.pm.0.i386.rpm libvcd-devel-0.7.16-0.pm.0.i586.rpm libvorbis-1.0cvs20030622-0.pm.0.i386.rpm libvorbis-devel-1.0cvs20030622-0.pm.0.i386.rpm libxine1-1_beta12-0.pm.1.i386.rpm libxine1-aa-1_beta12-0.pm.1.i386.rpm libxine1-alsa09-1_beta12-0.pm.1.i386.rpm libxine1-arts-1_beta12-0.pm.1.i386.rpm libxine1-devel-1_beta12-0.pm.1.i386.rpm libxine1-dvb-1_beta12-0.pm.1.i386.rpm libxine1-dvd-1_beta12-0.pm.1.i386.rpm libxine1-dxr3-1_beta12-0.pm.1.i386.rpm libxine1-esd-1_beta12-0.pm.1.i386.rpm libxine1-flac-1_beta12-0.pm.1.i386.rpm libxine1-gnome-vfs-1_beta12-0.pm.1.i386.rpm libxine1-oggtheora-1_beta12-0.pm.1.i386.rpm libxine1-oggvorbis-1_beta12-0.pm.1.i386.rpm libxine1-sdl-1_beta12-0.pm.1.i386.rpm libxine1-syncfb-1_beta12-0.pm.1.i386.rpm libxine1-w32dll-1_beta12-0.pm.1.i386.rpm xine-ui-0.9.21-0.pm.0.i386.rpm xine-ui-aa-0.9.21-0.pm.0.i386.rpm xvid-0.9.1-1.pm.0.i386.rpm xvid-devel-0.9.1-1.pm.0.i386.rpm (You'll also need to make sure you have the win32 dll's, it's also on PackMan's site) I'm pretty sure this is all of them, I took a few out that I 'think' were just for recording, and there might be a couple in this list that 'aren't' necessary...either way, you'll see what all you need or is also necessary on his site with each download of something (I built all mine from his src.rpm's, YMMV).
