Any suggestions will be appreciated Maybe you should provide some additional detail. First, the DVD is a multi-layer DVD. If you have an older DVD reader, you cannot do a DVD install. You can download the image from SuSE.

Are you saying that after you installed your system, you cannot perform addition package installations via YaST? Do you have more than one CD or DVD drives in your system? YaST looks on a specific drive. You can use the YaST "Change Source of Installation" to configure which device(s) and / or remote server(s) to use as installation sources.
TIA

YES, it denies to recognize the drive now.

No I just have that one drive and haven't changed the setup. I installed from that DVD drive initially that's why I'm wondering big time. btw everythings is up to date with the latest so I suspect that SuSE "fumbled" a little around "again"
You can use the YaST "Change Source of Installation" to configure which device(s) and / or remote server(s) to use as installation sources.
Yes been there done that ...... and it "politely" tells me "to take a hike". It denies that there's any "DVD:///;devices=/dev/hda" and "Error(Media:invalid filesystem) .... and suggest I try again .... yeah right ;-) Just checked /dev ..... no cdrom / dvdrecorder device ..... sounds like a reoccuring problem that showed it's ugly face. I've had to use the repair option regularly to fix these packages: devs postfix util-linux Hmm .... might be I should make a fresh install totally from scratch and see on a basic install if this setting changes right after updating from YOU. Damn what a waste of my time
TIA

On my system, there's one DVD-ROM drive and one DVD recorder. YaST insists on referring the recorder as "cd:///", which makes no sense to me (the other device gets a little cranky from time to time, and I prefer not to use it). But hey, it works for installing packages, so I'm not complaining. Try all the devices even remotely like the one you're trying to access before giving up.

ROFL .... yes ... but I like to plan such "time of waste" constructively ;-)
