When I see in yast install/unistall packets I see linuxkernel and susekernel... wich is the diference between them?? If I download last kernel from www.kernel.org (i.e. 2.4.1 latest stable) how cand I upgrade kernel.... it's with the tipical.... (I have slack.....I'm new in SuSE I suppose thah SuSE works so too). make config (menuconfig, xconfig) make dep make clean make zImage cp arch/i386/boot/zImage /boot/vmlinuz cp System.map /boot make modules make modules_install ??? PS: if you use AMD and SUSE visit http://www.x86-64.org

Luis, suse makes its own brand of kernel, with many patches and add-ons Remember suse has some people working actively in kernel developing in various areas

The process is the same, but be careful not to mix both source trees, so as
not to lose your nice suse-kernel :)
