I would like to obtain a budget UPS for my SuSE Linux 7.2 server. I don't need a massive battery, just something which will automatically do a shutdown on my Linux box when the power fails. There is a cheap APC one for about £65 (BackUPS 350EI 350VA) from Dabs in the UK. However, these cheaper models seem to use usb. Do the usb UPSs work OK with Linux ? Another snag is that my server doesn't have usb ports although I could fit a D-Link usb card if they work OK with Linux as well. I'm open to suggestions for any manufacturer, not just APC as long as they will auto shutdown my Linux box.
