Re: [SLE] Optical S/PDIF Output Silent After KDE 3.5 Upgrade

Why don't you do a lsmod to see if you got the right module installed and/or invoke the util you use to turn on the S/PDIF? When you save it, the S/PDIF state should stay. I upgraded to the new kernel at the same time I upgraded my KDE 3.5.0, so it's probably even more likely that the reason I cannot get optical S/PDIF output to work is the kernel or one of its modules than it is a KDE-related thing. Hi,
The subject pretty much says it all. Since I've upgraded to KDE 3.5, my audio card's optical output is no longer producing any signals (though the pretty red light remains on). Two of the fancier audio control applications (gamix and ALSA Mixer) have an IEC958 output control section and both indicate that output channel is active (gamix's very confusing means of displaying on/off status notwithstanding).
The hardware is displayed as Sound Fusion CS46xxx and the chip identified as Cirrus Logic CS 4294 rev. 5.
If anyone has encountered this and solved it or might have some clues to offer on diagnosing or solving the problem, I'd appreciating hearing.

I'm afraid this doesn't make any sense. All of my audio functions are operational except output to the S/PDIF port. And I did check the lsmod output, and the relevant module is loaded, of course.
When you save it, the S/PDIF state should stay.
Save what?
