Can someone recommend a godo firewall gui, that has enough flexability to encorperate a VPN tunnel or at least allow one through. Right now I have a non gui set up. but was curious 1.) if installing KDE on my firewall is secure 2.) using a gui set up is wise Rowan Reid Job Captain, Systems Administrator STUDIO 3 ARCHITECTS 909 982 1717
Try doing a GOOGLE search for "firestarter" - it looks pretty interesting. JOn

I use fwbuilder at home. (www.fwbuilder.org) It is GTK+ based, so you need the basic X and GTK+ (maybe a few GNOME) libraries. I have it installed on my little firewall and I just run it remotely from a workstation over a ssh session. I don't have X running on the firewall. See if it will cater for your needs. I too use FWBuilder and have been very pleased with it's advanced look and feel. I mostly use Checkpoint firewall-1 in my course of duty, but have managed to sneak in a SuSE 7.3 box with FWBuilder. The functionality it provides is some cases exceeds what can be done with Firewall-1 and the look and fell is similar to Firewall-1 NG, but at the fraction of the cost. David Bottrill
