First off, to those of you who put together SuSE... THANKS! Great distro. I just wanted to let someone know about my experience with setting up SuSE 7.0 on my Dell Inpiron 7500. There are 2 issues: - When not is the X portion of the installer, screen flickers. - CD-ROM hangs randomly. When not is the X portion of the installer, screen flickers: This is most noticed after the installation is complete. I still don't know what that last message says but it says something about a CDROM in a aqua colored box. It is also notcied when trying to switch between virtual terminals ala Ctrl+Alt+F4. CD-ROM hangs randomly: I have istalled SuSE 7.0 multiple times for various reasons on the same machine. For some reason occasionally while installing packages it sometimes just hangs in the middle of one of the RPMs and it will not recover. Oddly enough it never happens in the same place. I can usually get through the smaller installs, i.e. "default + office", but "almost everything" usually ends up hanging (with one exception out of 8 tries). I switched virtual terminals and attempted to read the error it wasn't easy due to the flickering screen, see above, but it read something like: cdrom SeekComplete Error (Note: I am using a ISO image) I realize that this could be a variety of things and that 7.1 is due out soon but just in case this info helps someone there it is.
