k3b/SuSE9.0 hiccup
I have recently completed a shift from 8.2 to 9.0 (clean install) and in the new setup k3b detects my cd/dvd player (Sony dvd rom - ide2, master) but not my cd writer (Benq 52x24x52 - ide2,slave). I was thinking scsi emulation issue, but I thought that was no longer required in 9.0? Strange thing is cdbakeoven detects both, so I am using that for backups and burning audio cds at present. However, I would still like to know why one program detects the drive and another doesn't? I thought they were all just front-ends for cdrecord etc.? Paul.

Paul.
I've got the same problem on my 8.2 system. I've narrowed it down to permissions though. I can utilize k3b under UID 0 but not UID 500. That's a start. Let me know if you find anything out. thanks. thomas -- Thomas Jones Linux-Howtos Network Administrator OpenGPG Key: 0x6A3DF6E9

Set: cdrecord readcd cdrdao to owner root and group cdrecording with mode 4750 (Create the group if it does not exist). Now put the users with permission to burn cd's into that group.
