How do I send an encrypted email?
I want to send by brother a document and I'd like to encrypt it. He is on a Mac. I know how to encrypt it, but how will he open it? Tom -- ---------------------------- Tom Nielsen Neuro Logic Systems, Inc. 805.389.5435 x18 www.neuro-logic.com ----------------------------

Are you going to encrypt the mail (message) AND the document? Then PGP/GPG is what you're looking for. If you just want to encrypt the document, then "zip -e document" should suffice. -- - E - on SUSE 9.1 | KDE 3.3 | ASUS P4C800 Deluxe \ Pentium 4 3.0GHz | Tachyon G9600 PRO-M \ Transcend 2GB RAM | copperwalls was here ;) "These things I command you, that you love one another." - John 15:17

There's a pretty good step by step article here: http://www.linuxjournal.com/article.php?sid=7354 -- _____________________________________ John Andersen

He said he already knew how to encrypt it, so the issue at hand was how to decrypt on the Mac side. While slightly OT for this list, these links should be of use: http://macgpg.sourceforge.net/ http://www.sente.ch/software/GPGMail/English.lproj/GPGMail.html Works great on my Mac. -- Jarod C. Thanks, I'll look at the docs. -- Tom Nielsen Neuro Logic Systems 1.805.389.5435 x18 www.neuro-logic.com

That depends on how you encrypt it. I don't know if gpg support is available for the Mac. However, I'd recommend X.509 certificates. Many mail programs support them. You can get a free certificate from: http://www.thawte.com/email/
