[opensuse] M-player problem!

Hi all, I upgraded my system with a new power pack, motherboard, better cpu, and more main memory. I put back in my video card and hard disks. When I rebooted I had only minor problems. BUT now Mplayer will not work! I get his error: Error opening/initializing the selected video_out (-vo) device. Its odd that when I use mc and click on a video it works, but run Mplayer and I get this error and then the sound track of the video starts. Any ideas what to do? Thanks, JIM -- Jim Hatridge Linux User #88484 Ebay ID: WartHogBulletin ------------------------------------------------------ WartHog Bulletin Info about new German Stamps http://www.WartHogBulletin.de Many Enemies -- Much Honor! OK, I figured out that I need the X11, but I guess I'm a bit slow, where do I edit the settings for this? Thanks, JIM

Out of all of the video output drivers, x11 is the slowest. The preferred order of choice (I am omitting framebuffers here) is xv, gl2, gl, x11. I am suprised that your card does not support xv. What is the output of "xvinfo"? Charles -- "Absolutely nothing should be concluded from these figures except that no conclusion can be drawn from them." (By Joseph L. When gmplayer is running, just right click, select Preferences, go into Video and you'll see a list of the available video output drivers. Try out each one (you have to close mplayer for each to take effect) and pick the one that works best for you. James, are you using a Radeon like Anton? Maybe this thread will help to get xv going: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=817549 Charles -- "Whip me. Beat me. Make me maintain AIX." (By Stephan Zielinski)
